Indian Textile Industry Using Child Labor




Surat Textile Company, India, is very enormous contributor of textile products in India with wide range of collections and almost 45% are hand made to attract user of market. But very disappointing and condemnable factor was revealed by media that company had been engaged in deploying Child labors in its industry in almost all units of textile factories and it is against rule of law.
Management of Surat Textiles must be summoned at breaching state’s regulation and child right activist must be in motion to eradicate this menace in region. To minimize this practice labor deprtment of India and textile industry union is going to bring common understanding in this context about child rights.


A very thoughtful figure of 55,000 children revealed to be engaged in textile sector, bearing hard life conditions. Ashish Gandhi, assistant to labor commission of Indian department of labor stated that they are striving for reducing child labor to zero in textile industry only by the dint of collaboration of Textile industry. 45 child labors have been provided child rights after withdrawing them from earning livelihood in textile companies.

In Surat, such children are widespread engaged in labor work not only in factories but also in fabric shops in consumer markets for daily wage of not more than Indian Rupee 100. As per source, anonymity promised, child labors are sent to markets by their guardian and parents through middlemen after getting fixed monthly amount. Utar Pardesh, Bihar and Jharkhand are states where you can look child as labor next to matured ones.
